Obituary

David Nickerson Sr., 79 of Hyannis, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 14th. David was born March 27th, 1945 in Weymouth, Ma. He was the youngest son born to the late Winfield “Barney” Nickerson of West Barnstable and his wife Violet (Siira). David left a brother, Richard Nickerson of Hyannis, Ma and his wife Dianne.

On March 20th, 1982, David would marry his wife and best friend Evelyn (Kemmer) of Elyria, Oh. They would be happily married for 42 years. David and Evelyn had 2 sons together, David, 41 of Falmouth, Ma and his wife Nicole and Jason, 39 of Pottstown, Pa and his wife Erin. David was a proud Grampa to 2 grandchildren that he loved dearly, Charlotte born in October and William born in February. David leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins that he enjoyed spending time with.

Though he was born in Weymouth, David was a Cape Codder through and through. David grew up enjoying spending time at Sandy Neck at his family’s camp and spending time at his camps in Maine, he also loved his dogs, a passion that he would go on to pass to both of his boys. David enjoyed getting visits from family, especially in recent years from his brother in law Clayton and his wife Beth. He enjoyed playing board games and card games with his family and friends, especially Uno, he loved holding onto a “wild draw 4” until the very end just to see the reaction of the person he gave it to as he went out with his “one of a kind” smirk. David was also an avid fan of his Boston sports teams, having the typical love/hate relationship so many Boston sports fans share. But more than anything, David was a family man that loved and would do just about anything for his family and friends. He affected so many people in so many different ways, leaving a lifetime of stories and fond memories for all those that met him, he will be dearly missed.

Arrangements for a memorial service and celebration of life will be determined at a later date and will be shared privately with family members and close friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choosing in David’s name.
