Obituary

AGAWAM – Gladys Pedrosa, 90, of Agawam, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 11, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at her home with her loving companion, Gene at her side. She was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico on January 30, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Juan Pedrosa and Manuela Aponte. She was raised in Orocovis and received an Associate Degree from the University of Puerto Rico. Gladys came to Springfield in 1960 where she attended and graduated from the former LaBaron Hairdressing School on Main Street in Springfield. She then worked for Frank & Tito's Beauty Salon in Springfield and Pierre Andre Beauty Salon in West Springfield. In November of 1971, Gladys fulfilled her lifelong dream and opened the Golden Mirror Salon on Exchange Street in Chicopee which she operated for over 51 years. She later moved the business to Dymski's Court on Perkins Street in Chicopee and last moved to Cabot Street in Chicopee. Gladys always prided herself in being on the cutting edge of beauty and was the first in Chicopee to introduce acrylic nails. She leaves her loving partner of over 40 years, Gene Demski and her cherished family, Willie Rodriguez Jr., Miguel Rodriguez, Evelyn Rodriguez, Steven Pedrosa, Miguel Pedrosa, Eva Pedrosa, Eric Collazo, Arlene Collazo, Eliot Collazo, Oswaldo Pedrosa, Christopher Pedrosa, David Pedrosa, Juan Antonio Pedrosa, Carlos Pedrosa, Kelvin Pedrosa, and Doris Pedrosa. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Digna Margarita Rodriguez Morales who was Called Home on December 28, 1980; and her two brothers, Carlos and Juan Pedrosa. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Entombment will follow the Mass at Saint Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
