John Joseph Calka Jr., 86, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away on April 12th in Thousand Oaks, California. John was born in Port Chester, New York to Viola (Bradham) (Calka) Mead and John Joseph Calka, Sr. on December 16th,1937. He graduated from Glen Academy in Georgia in 1955. John enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years. He and his family relocated to the San Fernando Valley in spring of 1966 when he accepted a job with Grumman Aircraft Company. John eventually switched jobs to Hughes Aircraft Company/Raytheon as a Project Engineer and retired in 2002. He was a friend of Bill W. and celebrated 43 years of sobriety.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Joan (Triolo) Calka originally of Mamaroneck, New York; his eldest daughter Lisa Ann and son-in-law, Frederick John Dalton, their children Megan Pearla and her husband, Jim Clithero, and David Francisco; his eldest son John Joseph III, and daughter-in-law Heidi (Wouters), their children Adam Michael, Travis Joseph and his wife, Heather (Stewart) and their children Avenleigh Ferrell, Aubriella Rose, and Landon John; Ryan Martin; Jordan Christopher, and his wife Emily (Tapia) and their son, Elliot Christopher; his son Michael Joseph and daughter-in-law, Linda (Guy); his daughter, Marianne and her children, Diana Macari, Maria Elizabeth and her husband, Isaac Cinzori, and Leah Catherine.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Calka Sr., and his mother, Viola (Bradham) (Calka) Mead.
Family and friends are invited to the Rosary to be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Boyko & Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary & Cremation, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA 93003 and Funeral Mass of Resurrection to be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3175 Telegraph Rd, Ventura, CA 93003. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Health of the Sick, 2929 Theresa Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320, to whom the family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude for their devoted care for John.
