Obituary

María Caridad Mouriño, 93, of Allston, MA, died on April 6, 2024. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, she was exiled to the US in 1961, and settled in Massachusetts. She and her family resided in Allston for many years, before more recently moving to Florida. María was predeceased by Miguel, her beloved spouse of 57 years; her mother Lina; brother Emilio; and grandchildren Kenneth and Alexander. María is survived by her cherished children Ana, Miguel and Alejandro, as well as many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. María worked at the Pre-Natal Unit at Boston’s Children’s Hospital until her 1992 retirement at age 62. Soon after, Maria and Miguel were able to travel extensively, until Miguel fell ill. Maria cared lovingly for him, at home, for years until his death. All the while, Maria managed and maintained several of her properties that were rented to college students, with whom she enjoyed close and lasting friendships. One of her Emerson College student tenants even produced a film about her called “The Landlady.” She was a mother figure to all. A devoted wife and mother with a strong Catholic faith, she will be remembered for her compassion towards family and friends, and as an example of Christian charity and love. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 19, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Revere Street, Revere, MA 02151. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 164 Winter St, Saugus, MA 01906. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of María and Miguel Mouriño.
