WORCESTER___Elizabeth (Lagoda) Kania, 98, of Worcester, passed away with family by her side on Friday April 12, 2024 in the comfort of her home. Her husband of 45 years, Jan Kania died in 1993.
Elizabeth leaves a daughter, Mary M. Juges and her husband William of Northbridge; twin sons, John S. Kania of Rochdale and Joseph S. Kania and his wife, Lynn of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kari, Rebecca, Thomas, Brandon and Adam, two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Eileen and John Joseph. Elizabeth also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Josef, Gertrud and Margret. Elizabeth was born in Wattenscheid, Germany a daughter of Stefan and Antonia Lagoda. She was raised and educated in Germany and came to Worcester in 1949.
Mrs. Kania was the Sacristan for 25 years at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and retired many years ago. Mrs. Kania was also a longtime parishioner there.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:00 A,M, in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00 to 9:45 A.M. in the funeral home before the Mass.
