Obituary

Thomas F. Frizzell, Sr., age 74, of West Bridgewater, died peacefully at his home on April 11, 2024 surrounded by his family. Tom was the loving husband of Christina M. (Boyd) Frizzell for 43 years. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Mary E. (Flynn) Frizzell.

Tom was a 1967 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Massasoit Community College, his Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State University and his Master’s of Education from Bridgewater State University. At Massasoit Community College he was a professor of business for 45 plus years and for 28 years he was the head baseball coach.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a mentor to all that knew him.

Tom was a member of the Lions Club and the Brockton Park Department; he was Vice President of the Brockton Pony/Colt League. The love of baseball was his passion in life, from coaching, to collecting memorabilia, going to the Baseball Hall of Fame or simply watching the game. He was inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Massasoit Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.

Tom was the loving father of Jennifer L. Riley of Westport, Thomas F. Frizzell, Jr. and his wife Susie of New Bedford, Deborah D. Harkins and her husband William of West Bridgewater and the late Daniel J. Diodati. He was the loving grandfather of Cameron J. Camara, Kiley C. Camara, Logan R. Riley, Ava G. Harkins, Sofia M. Frizzell, Thomas F. Frizzell III and Joseph D. Frizzell. He is survived by his siblings Russell E. Frizzell and his wife Joanne of Middleboro, Paul D. Frizzell and his wife Vanessa of Brockton, Mark E. Frizzell and his wife Sandra of Maine and Janet R. Frizzell of Halifax.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, MA Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather Thursday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tom may be made to the Thomas Frizzell Scholarship Fund at Massasoit Community College. Donations can be made online at Massasoit.edu/give or via check to Massasoit Community College Foundation (please note the donation is for the Frizzell Scholarship Fund). The fund provides financial support for students who have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership and character, as demonstrated by the distinguished career of Coach Frizzell.
