Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the pass of John “Johnny” Ciraolo, a resident of Quincy. After a brief illness, Johnny passed away surrounded by his loving family at the West Roxbury Veterans Hospital hospital on March 4, 2024. Johnny left behind family and cherished memories.

Born and raised in South Quincy, Johnny served his country with honor in the United States Army demonstrating bravery and dedication to his nation. After his service, Johnny pursued his career as a cement finisher, earning the name “Johnny Concrete.” He mastered his craft and left behind countless structures that stand as a testament to his skill and hard work.

In addition to his profession endeavors, Johnny was a proud entrepreneur who owned a liquor store in Marshfield. Through his business, he became a familiar face in that community and made many friends along the way.

Johnny was known for huge sense of generosity and contagious smile. Fondly known to many in his Quincy neighborhood as “Uncle Johnny”. He was proud of his Sicilian heritage. He also loved disco, cars, gardening, golf and always trying new restaurants. He looked forward to weekly dinners and quality time with his beloved goddaughters Kristin and Nina, along with his nephews Michael, Joseph and Dominic, which was a long-running tradition.

Preceded in death by his father Joseph Ciraolo, his mother Lena Nigrelli Ciraolo, his twin brother Joseph Ciraolo and his sister Patricia Adams. Johnny was survived by his loving sisters Marie Bettes, Joanne Angelucci and J. Linda Wilson. Johnnys memory will also be cherished by his numerous nieces and nephews who were all deeply touched by his love and humor.

Johnny was overwhelmed by the love and support that was shown to him at the end of his life. He left this world knowing he was loved and cared for. A heartfelt recognition to all the wonderful staff at the West Roxbury Veterans Hospital for their loving care. Johnny and his family were so grateful.

A funeral service to honor Johnnys life will be held at Saint Johns church located at 44 School Street Quincy Saturday April 13, 2024 at 10:00am. His family and friends are cordially invited to say goodbye to a man who will be missed but not forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Roxbury Veterans Hospital in Johnny’s memory, continuing his legacy of generosity.
