Obituary

Patricia A. (Dauksevicz) VanDyke of Whitman passed away at home on April 6 surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 20, 1936, in Hanover to Boleslaw and Rozalia (Tuniewicz) Daukszevicz, she was a devoted wife of the late Roland F. VanDyke for 63 years, loving mother to her daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Lee Malafronte of West Bridgewater, Diane and Michael Newcomb of Whitman, and Rosemary and Adam Anthony of Alton, NH. Pat was adored as "Grammy" by Barry, Brittanirose, and Nicholas Blair, Heather and Reid Broderick, Holly Malafronte, and Brooke and Shelby Newcomb, cherished by Rose Sturtevant, a devoted niece whom Pat held dear as if she were her own daughter, dear nieces Joyce Hokanson (Alan) and Nancy (Steve) Weckbacher, special nephew Paul Dauksevicz and his wife Elise, her cousins Maria Boyle and Anna Middleton of England, and her friend of 80 years, Sharlene Morse-Edwards of Hanover, as well as many extended family members

Pat took great pride in her Polish heritage and was a vibrant part of the community. She resided in Hanover, Brockton, and Whitman throughout her life. A graduate of Hanover High School in 1955, she dedicated herself to her family and career, working alongside her husband Rolly in the Brockton School System until retirement.

A passionate New England sports fan, Pat enjoyed cheering on the Patriots and Celtics, and her love for dancing the Polka was contagious. Her family’s Sundays were filled with lively Polka music and impromptu Polka dance lessons for her daughters. A talented crafter, seamstress, and gardener, she adorned her home with beautiful creations and transformed her yard into a serene haven.

Despite health challenges, Pat loved life. Her spirit remained unyielding, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her warmth, humor, and devotion to family and friends will be fondly remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. In her passing, she joins her siblings, Aleksander, Nellie, John, Mary, Edward, Leo, and Chester.

Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to Karen and the compassionate team from Norwell Hospice for their support and care.
