Orin “Robbie” Pomeroy Robinson, aged 96, of Mystic passed away peacefully on April 4. Robbie was born in New London on January 27, 1928, the son of O.P. Robinson and Ann Scroggie Robinson, and grew up in Groton. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire and Yale University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture. He married Marcia Thurston Robinson, on Dec. 10, 1960. He is survived by his three children, Sam, Lisa, and Will, and four grandchildren.
Robbie pursued his love of architecture by designing for his family the homes they lived in. His interest in landscaping was also realized by the beautiful landscape gardening he cultivated for them. Later in life he discovered a skill for teaching and became a well sought after third grade teacher at Great Neck Elementary School in Waterford.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday, April 10 from 5pm to 7pm. A memorial service will be held at Noank Baptist Church on Thursday, April 11 at 11am.
