Obituary

Christos Bezas, 72, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his loving nieces and their families. He is survived by his three sisters, Maria Fragoglou of Germany and Pagona Beza and Eleni Karadimou of Greece; nieces and nephews, Eleni Fragoglou, Christos Fragoglou and his wife, Gioulia Fragoglou, Panagiotis Bezas and his wife, Georgia Efthymiadou, Chrisoula (Beza) Vasiliadis and her husband, Dimitrios Vasiliadis, Maria Beza-Gervais and her husband, Kevin Gervais, Iordanis Karadimos, and Georgia Karadimou and her husband, Vagelis Paraskevas, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews who he adored. He was predeceased by his brother, Argyrios Bezas.

Christos was born in Hrisohorafa, Serron, Greece the son of Panagiotis and Rodi (Ktistis) Bezas. He served in the Greek Army before immigrating to the United States in 1979 where he worked passionately as a painter and handyman in upstate New York and Worcester. He was a devout member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, attending every church service. He immersed himself in his faith, constantly reading books on religion, listening to sermons, and having endless conversations about spirituality with his family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching action movies, working outdoors, delivering coffee to his nieces at work, and most of all, spending quality time with his honorary grandchildren, his great-nieces and great-nephews. Christos enjoyed the little things in life and always gave willingly, never asking for anything in return. He was a sociable, selfless, and kind man who dedicated his time to helping others and being available for his family, friends, and community. He will be missed dearly. His family would like to thank his teams at St. Vincent Hospital and Tuft’s Medical Center for the care and support they provided, as well as his family and friends who filled his life with joy and laughter.

Theio Taki, we will miss your empathetic nature, your stubbornness, your sarcasm, your laugh, and most of all, your love. Thank you for always being there. We love you.

Christo’s funeral will take place Monday, April 8th in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
