Obituary

With profound sadness, we mark the passing of Jessica Duplessie, a remarkable woman known for her radiant spirit, sharp wit, and immense love for her family and friends. Born on September 23, 1970, Jessica's life journey, after a long battle with cancer, came to a peaceful end on March 29, 2024.

Left to carry on Jessica's legacy of kindness are her devoted husband, James Van Gemert; her two children, Michael and Lily Duplessie; her sister, Michelle Oteri, her husband William their daughters, Erica Taylor & Callie Oteri, and her in-laws, Jessica and James Martel, and their children Natalia & Jake; They, like all who knew her, were touched by her unwavering kindness and bubbly, larger-than-life personality.

A passionate fan of the Patriots, Jessica not only loved watching games, but also enjoyed playing Scrabble and spending time at the beach. Her favorite way to keep fit was walking — an exercise she enjoyed as much for the calm it brought to her mind as for the health benefits it offered. She was also a keen knitter, and her handcrafted items were cherished by those lucky enough to receive them.

Jessica was a lover of life and sought to experience all it had to offer, casting her net wide in her favorite vacation spots – anywhere and everywhere. Her warm and polite nature, combined with her intelligence and profound beauty, lit up any room she entered. She had a knack for being present and making others feel seen and heard, a trait that added to her charm.

An ardent devotee of Sam Cook's "I Love You," Jessica found solace and joy in music. Likewise, her love for the show "Beat Bobby Flay" reflected her natural talent in the kitchen and her ability to create feasts that were as much about love and community as they were about food.

One of her greatest accomplishments, as she often said, were her children. Their success and happiness were her greatest pride. Beyond her immediate family, Jessica also demonstrated her caring and generous nature through her support for various causes, focusing on children, her beloved Jimmy, and her extended family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Jessica will be held on April 20, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin .
