Obituary

William Henry Munier

William Henry “Hank” Munier, age 61, of Newton, formerly of Wenham, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, after a valiant struggle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Born in Syracuse, NY on December 24, 1962, Hank was the cherished son of Stephen “Bob” and Joyce (Henry) Munier. He lived life with an infectious energy. Graduating from Curry College in 1987, Hank embarked on a fulfilling career as a financial advisor, where his dedication to his clients was unwavering. He endeared himself to many, regardless of their station in life, leaving an indelible mark of compassion and integrity.

People were drawn to Hank for his genuine and affable personality. With his warm demeanor, quick wit, and boundless generosity, he effortlessly brought joy into the lives of others. In 1994, after learning of a friend’s cancer diagnosis, he completed a 3,500-mile cross-country bike ride in support of The American Cancer Society despite little long-distance biking experience, a testament to his willingness to go above and beyond for those in need. Hank was always there to support friends and strangers alike throughout his life, and constantly sought ways to help those around him, gladly giving his time, energy, resources, and companionship to better other people's lives.

Hank was an avid and skilled golfer, eagerly embracing any opportunity to get out on a course, including during his illness. He also loved to fish, which is ironic given his self-acknowledged inability to sit still! His passion for these activities was exceeded only by his love for his family. For all his many accomplishments, Hank’s most treasured role was as dad to his beautiful daughters, Della Mae and Lily, and loving husband to Joanna (Nowacki), to whom he was married for 25 years. Hank’s love for his family was deep. He embraced fatherhood with the same verve and enthusiasm that permeated the rest of his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Hank leaves behind his parents, Stephen “Bob” and Joyce (Henry) Munier, his younger brother, Brian Munier and sister-in-law Grace Munier and was unfortunately preceded in death by his older brother, Stephen Munier. Hank's family extends to include his beloved mother and father-in-law, Bibiana and Joseph Nowacki. Hank shared a special bond with his sisters-in-law and their families: Danalynn (Nowacki) and Dave McCann, Kara (Nowacki) and George Daher, and his nephews Brett and Kurt Daher.

Hank’s legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, forever remembered with fondness and gratitude.

We invite his friends and family to join us for a celebration of his life on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 3:00pm at Newbridge on the Charles (Conservatory), 7000 Great Meadow Road, Dedham, MA.
