Obituary

Mary Thelma (Trahon) Peterson, of West Roxbury, formerly of Brookline, and Roslindale, passed away on March 31, 2024. Beloved wife of the late James Peterson. Devoted mother of June Seeley and her husband Thomas of Medford, Patricia Falcione and her husband Mark of Hyde Park, Linda Morris and her husband Stephen of West Roxbury, the late James Kevin Peterson and Mary Peterson. Dear sister of the late Edith Perkins, Francis, John, Rev. Basil (Charles), Richard, Anne, and Peter. Loving grandmother of Jennifer, Lauren, Gregory, Christine, Andrew, Lisa, Kaitlyn, Mary Kate, and the late Jillian. Great grandmother of Ashley, Emma, Liam, Ava, AJ, and Carly. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was born in Brookline to Gertrude (MacPhee) and Daniel Trahon. Some knew her as Mary while others knew her as Thelma, and she was Nana to many, all of whom loved her. She was a feisty woman with a gentle love for her family and friends and had a quiet but passionate devotion to her faith.

Mary and Jimmy raised their family in Roslindale surrounded by the sounds of the bells and blessings of Sacred Heart Church.

Their neighborhood on Sherwood and Sheldon Streets was very close-knit and lifelong friendships were made. As people moved on Mary loved and was loved by the new neighbors and friends she made.

Everyone knew her as she regularly walked her various dogs, Poochie, Daisy, Misty, and Lily. She always had a kind word for those that she met on these walks.

Her family was her passion, and her faith was her strength. Each new addition to the family for the next three generations brought her tremendous joy and new ways to express her love and affection. When trouble befell anyone in her family, her love helped them as her faith helped her.

She encouraged a moral life, leading by example with nurturing thoughtfulness. Mary Left this world on Easter Sunday swathed in her comforting faith and the appreciative love of her family.
