Mary Patricia “Patty” (Woitkoski) Newman of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024. Beloved wife of Stephen H. Newman. Devoted mother of Benjamin Newman of Milton. Dear sister of Judith Ann Janisch and her husband Richard of FL, Joseph Paul Woitkoski and his wife Nancy of Pittsfield, Nancy Jeanne Woitkoski of Falmouth, and the late Michael Woitkoski. Loving grandmother of Graeme Compton and Rhys Lantelme Newman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Patty was a dedicated educator throughout a multi decade career in the Pittsfield, Braintree, and Boston Public School systems, as an English, dramatics, and reading teacher. She was a community leader in Jamaica Plain, having served on the boards of the Sophia Snow Place and Loring Greenough House, and as an officer in the Jamaica Hills Association. She loved her summers on Cape Cod with family and friends and, as a talented gourmet, delighted in cooking for both large parties and small family dinners.
A memorial service will be held at her childhood parish, St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 414 North St Pittsfield, MA on Friday, April 5th at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Private.
