Louis G. Sardina a lifetime resident of Wellesley and Margate, FL, passed away peacefully on March 28 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He is the husband of the late Joan E. (Greenough) Sardina and is survived by his children Michael and wife Heidi of Wayland, son Thomas and wife Debbie of Natick, and his daughter Lauren also of Natick. Brother of Robert of Margate, FL and Nina LeBlanc of Wellesley. He is survived by his grandchildren Katie, Scott, Kristen, and Nicholas, along with great-grandchildren Lily, Olivia, Isabella, and Alex.
Louis graduated from Wellesley High School in 1951, immediately joining the United States Army, doing his basic training at Schofield Training barracks in Hawaii. He was sent to Korea from 1951-1952 where he joined up with George Company, and the 5th Regimental Combat Team, earning the combat infantry badge and United Nations ribbon with 3 battle stars at the age of eighteen.
After his tour of duty, he entered Babson Institute, now Babson College. While at the college he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, Veterans Club, and made the Dean’s List.
After graduating in 1958 he joined Nutmeg Chemical Company in New Haven, CT as a sales engineer and area manager where he stayed for 43 years. In 1999 Nutmeg was sold to Nalco Corp. where he stayed for the next 5 years before retiring.
Lou was an avid golfer for most of his life, belonging to the Orchards and Nehoiden Golf Clubs, and a Shriner since 1989.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley on Thursday, April 4 from 4-7pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, April 5 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
