SPRINGFIELD - John Louis Pezzote Jr, 75, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He passed away unexpectedly at his home. John was born on December 6, 1948 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late John Louis Pezzote Sr. and the late Anna (DeCrescenzo) Pezzote. John graduated with his Master’s Degree in Guidance and Psychology at Westfield State College. He worked as a guidance counselor at the Urban League of Springfield and at Cathedral High School. More recently, he worked part-time as a security officer for Liberty Security Service, Inc. in West Springfield.
John’s passion for life included caring for his late mother, Anna (Decrescenzo) Pezzote, who passed away on May 7, 2021. He was a wonderful man who loved his mother and family very much. He also competed in professional weightlifting and won many regional and state championships. He was a communicant of the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Ann Pezzote who was Called Home on June 12, 2019 and his brother, Paul Salvatore Pezzote who was Called Home on May 27, 2021. John leaves his three devoted brothers, Robert Pezzote and his wife, Linda, and Ronald Pezzote and his wife, Linda, all of North Carolina, and Michael Pezzote and his husband, Jimmy Giacomuzzi, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his sister in law, Cynthia (Authier) Pezzote of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield. There are no visiting hours.
