Obituary

Helen (McCullough) Rego age 80, of Brockton, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 peacefully in her sleep. She was the wife of the late James F. Rego and the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Marian (Gaston) McCullough.

Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Helen was the first one in her family to immigrate to the United States fifty-eight years ago. Her solo journey opened the doors for her siblings to follow. Helen was a resident of Brockton for forty-five years. For over twenty years, Helen worked as a Medical Biller for Physical Therapy Plus Inc. in Brockton.

In her younger years, Helen enjoyed line dancing. She also loved to travel. She was a devout Catholic and she served as a lector at St. Colman’s Church, now known as Christ the King Church, for forty years. She was a compassionate, charitable woman, who put other people’s needs before her own. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Helen leaves her children Donna Rizzo and her husband Mario of Brockton, Sean K. Rego and his wife Susan of Brockton and Joseph M. Rego and his wife Andrea of Stoughton, in addition to her siblings Margaret Arquette and her husband Gary, Jaqueline McCullough, Geraldine McCullough and Paul McCullough. She is survived by her five grandchildren Brendan S. Arrighi, Aidan M. Rego, Amelia K. Rego, Anya E. Rizzo and Liam G. Rizzo, and many nieces and nephews along with her dog, Mr. Bojangles. She was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph, James and Gail.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27 at 10:30 am at Christ the King Church, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, N. Cary Street, Brockton.
