Obituary

Jeffrey J. Wallen, age 64, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, following a brief battle with cancer at Lowell General Hospital, Main Campus. He was the cherished longtime companion of Laurie Silva.

Born on October 22, 1959, Jeffrey was the beloved son of the late Vincent G. Wallen Sr. and the late Joan (Brown) Wallen. He spent his formative years in Lowell, where he received his education. After graduating from high school, Jeffrey enlisted in the US Navy, proudly serving his country until 1980.

Jeffrey had a passion for word searches and beach outings, particularly enjoying camping at Salisbury Beach State Park. He found immense joy in the company of his friends and cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his granddaughter, Jaslina "Jazzy" Carrion, who brought him endless pride and joy.

Known affectionately as "The Kid," Jeffrey dedicated over two decades of his life working for Yellow Cab in Lowell, where he served as both dispatcher and driver, later transitioning to Checker Cab.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wallen of Lowell, his granddaughter, Jaslina "Jazzy" Carrion of Lowell, his brothers Glenn Wallen of Brattleboro, VT, Dean Wallen of Cape Cod, Wayne Wallen and his wife, Cindy, of Jaffrey, NH, and his sister-in-law Laura Wallen of Concord. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous close friends, including Pat Chandler and Howie Silva of Lowell, Theana Gauthier and her partner Manny Silva of Lowell, as well as his nieces and nephews, Mike, Sarah, Kristina, and Jamie, along with his two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his brother, Vinny Wallen, and his sister-in-law, Becky Wallen.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lowell General Hospital, Main Campus, for their compassion, care, and support during Jeffrey's difficult journey.

You are welcome to attend his calling hours from 4pm until 8pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA. Military honors will take place at 7:30pm.

If attending, please wear something blue to honor Jeffrey.
