Lon was born September 22, 1960, in Great Lakes, Illinois. His father was attending Navy electrician school, and Lon wasn't there very long. Lon moved with his family to various Naval bases including in California, Idaho, South Carolina, Connecticut, and Virginia.
In 1977 Lon and his family moved to Prosser, WA, where Lon attended and graduated from Prosser High School. Lon was welcomed and loved at Prosser High. He served as manager for various Mustangs' sports teams. It was in Prosser that Lon's love of music, and especially of Elvis, became apparent. He was known as "Peedbo" because he did the "Peedbo Shuffleā€¯, an Elvis imitation, at a school talent show. After Lon graduated, he joined Special Olympics, which he remained a part of throughout his life. He won numerous awards and was beloved by the other participants and coaches.
In the mid-1980s Lon moved to Kennewick, WA, and became part of the ARC- an agency that supports people who need a little help. He worked at Columbia Industries for a while, and also at the McDonald's in Richland for several years. During this time Lon was recognized by his friends and coworkers as a great fan and singer of Elvis songs. Lon was also a representative for the ARC, traveling to Olympia several times to speak about the concerns of the members.
Lon led a well-rounded life and had many interests, along with many friends. He enjoyed singing Karaoke, which was his passion. He also participated in all sports with Special Olympics. Most of all Lon loved people and spending time with his friends from all over. They all loved him right back.
