Obituary

AGAWAM – Rita G. (Perreault) Gregory, 97, of Agawam and a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at Care One at Northampton surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on December 23, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Oswald and Rosanna (Plante) Perreault. She lived in the Fairview section of Chicopee for many years, moved to Christopher Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, before moving to Holyoke and then Agawam in 2008. She was a machine operator for the A.G. Spalding Company in Chicopee and was previously employed at the former Totsy Manufacturing Company in Holyoke. She was a lifelong crafter and was the owner and operator of Mix-n-Match Crafts in Holyoke. Rita was never idle and greatly enjoyed sewing and playing cards. She was a communicant of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Agawam and enjoyed spending time with her many friends at the Agawam Senior Center. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, best friend, and dance partner, Edward J. Gregory who was Called Home on December 14, 2019. They were married on June 17, 1950 at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 69 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving and devoted daughter, Sandra T. Dufault and her husband, Larry, of Agawam; her two cherished granddaughters, Emilee R. Jurkowski and Rachel L. Jurkowski; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Hermanegilde LaFlamme; her beloved daughter, Laurie C. Gregory who was Called Home on December 12, 1981; her dear sister, Yvette G. Samson and her husband, Paul; her dear brother, Robert Perreault; and her dear cousin, Roland Perreault and his wife, Esther. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
