Obituary

WEBSTER – Evangelia “Litsa” (Toufa) Panagiotou, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Christopher House, Worcester after an illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John Panagiotou, who passed away in 2013.

She leaves 2 sons, George Panagiotou and his wife Amy of Webster and Kostas Panagiotou and his fiancé Kim Forget of Douglas; 4 grandchildren, Ashleigh Dziedzic and her husband Scott, Kaitlyn Panagiotou, Matthew Panagiotou and Olivia Panagiotou; 2 great-grandchildren, Charles Dziedzic and Caroline Dziedzic; Kim's children, Nicolle Forget, Julia Forget, Kyle Forget and Elise Forget. She was eagerly awaiting the birth of her third great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sister Marika Stefanou.

She was born on August 18, 1936 in Mavrovouni, Greece, a daughter of George and Olga (Karakatsoulis) Toufa. She lived in Konitsa, Greece until her marriage. She and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1968.

Mrs. Panagiotou was primarily a homemaker who dedicated her life to her husband and the raising of her children. After raising her sons, she worked for 60 Minute Cleaners and Webster Manor in the housekeeping and laundry departments.

She was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Being a talented seamstress, she sewed for her family and friends and made many of her own coats, dresses, and clothing. She enjoyed cooking and baking all the traditional Greek foods, tending to her large vegetable garden in the summers, and crocheting. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family and talking on the phone with all her family members in Greece. The pride for her family was evident in her eyes whenever she had the opportunity to introduce them to anyone. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Christopher Heights of Webster for all the care and companionship she received while living there the past two years.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 9, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a service at 11:00 AM in Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6:00 PM Friday in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 713, Webster, MA. 01570. May her memory be eternal.
