Obituary

Josephine A. DeCristofaro of Wellesley, formerly of Roslindale died peacefully after a brief illness on February 28, 2024 at the age of 89.

Beloved daughter of the late Charles and Josephine DeCristofaro. Beloved sister of the late Marie Cramer and her late husband, Murray Cramer, and the late Charles DeCristofaro and his wife, Mary DeCristofaro of Weld, Maine. Beloved aunt (Auntie Jo) to Nanci and Mark Donahue of Stoughton, Stephen and Elizabeth Cramer of Falmouth, Sandra Lally of Millis, Debra and Stephen Reynolds of Natick, Michael and Marcey DeCristofaro of Holliston and Andrea and Martin Orio of Medfield. Also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.

Jo was born in Boston on September 20, 1934 and attended school in Roslindale. Jo received her bachelor’s degree from Emmanual College and remained active for many years with the Emmanual Alumni Association. Jo spent her 42-year career working at Peter Bent Brigham hospital and Tufts Medical Center in the orthopedics departments. In her adopted hometown of Wellesley, Jo was an active participant and organizer of social and educational events with the Postcomers Club, book clubs, and the Council on Aging. Jo was a faithful parishioner and lector at the Parish of St. Paul for over 30 years. Jo will be remembered by her many friends as a fun and welcoming companion with an easy laugh and a bright smile. Jo was a life-long learner; she loved reading, classical music, watching Boston sports, socializing, and spending time with family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11 AM in St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington Street, Wellesley. Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Rte. 16, WELLESLEY, Monday morning prior to the Mass 9:30a.m.-10:30a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
