Obituary

Viergela (Samedy) David, age 83, of Brockton, died unexpectedly on February 27, 2024 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Vierge was the wife for 49 years of the late Erick David. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Nicanor and Rose (Casimir) Samedy.

Vierge was raised and educated in Haiti and in 1967 she immigrated to the United States, where she first lived in New York and was employed at the Poly Clinic Hospital in Manhattan. From 1970 to 1980 she resided in Dorchester and was a registered nurse at Boston City Hospital. In 1980 the family moved to Brockton. Vierge retired after 38 years from Boston Medical Center where she worked the night shift in the Spinal Cord unit.

Vierge was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart and Christ the King Churches and a daily communicant of the Chapel of Our Savior.

Though she could be strict, she was loving and would place her children’s needs first. She was an avid reader and traveler. She traveled extensively and was able to visit France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Russia, Poland, Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

Vierge is survived by her three sons: Stanley David (BPD) and his wife Colleen of East Bridgewater, Gregory David and his wife Brigitte of West Bridgewater and Daniel David of Holbrook. She was the grandmother of Lilly, Keira, Samara, Marcus and Isaiah David and Alyssa McEachern. She was the sister of Henry Samedy and the late Fenise Baptiste.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday, March 4 from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10:30am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
