Obituary

Ken J. Messier aka “Phil McKraken”, age 63, passed away peacefully on
February 24, 2024. He was born on May 21, 1960 in Springfield, son of the late
David and Beulah (Shea) Messier. Ken worked as a machinist for Aston
Johnson Foil for 33 years before finishing his career at the Lenox Company
(Formerly American Saw) before he retired. He loved camping,
fishing, rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and had the ability to make
friends easily with anyone he met. He is survived by his wife Debra Messier of
Chicopee; 3 sons, Kenneth Messier of Springfield, Jeremy Messier of
Springfield and Alex Messier of Springfield; 2 daughters, Melissa Barber of
Springfield and Crystal Messier of Springfield; 3 step children, Jason Fay of
Chicopee, Amber Callahan of Brooklyn, NY and Darren Callahan of Chicopee; 1
brother David Messier and his wife Deborah of Kentucky; 2 sisters, June Basset
and her husband Billy of Texas and Marcia Donovan and her husband Rob of
Monson along with 14 beloved grandchildren and many friends who will miss
him dearly. The family would like to give a special thank you to the D'Amour
Center for Cancer Care and the Baystate VNA and Hospice for their
kindness shown to Ken and his family during their time of need. A Celebration
will be held later in the summer, date to be announced by the family. The
