Wanda Gail Lott Young, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, March 1, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Jerome Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Young was born July 24, 1948, in Winter Garden, Florida, to the late Johnnie Paul & Rebecca Pearl Barrows Lott, due to her mother passing when she was a child, she was raised by her aunt Liza Jane Lewis. She received her Master’s Degree from Valdosta State University and was a retired Pre-K teacher with the Ben Hill County Board of Education. Mrs. Young enjoyed keeping her granddaughter, quilting, doing crossword puzzles, growing her flowers, watching birds and her Atlanta Braves. She was a member of New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Thompson & Stacy of Fitzgerald; a grandson, Chad Thompson & Leeza of Fitzgerald; a great-granddaughter, Layla Thompson; a loving companion, J.W. Young; extended family: Jamie Young & Angie, Gina McClelland & Josh, Garrett Burch & Ashley, Deanna Thompson & Kendall, and Addie Tucker & Wayden; JH Lott & Vickie of Brunson, South Carolina, Corine Lott Glyzinski & Rod of Ashford, Washington and Diane Lott Stephens of Douglas, James Young & Victoria of Fitzgerald, Jimmy Young & Polly Ann (sister) of Coffee County, Lois Smith of Wray, Elene Hulett & CA of Fitzgerald and Charles McClean of Pridgen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Young, a son, David Scott Young, sisters: Floyce Lott Day & Edward, Maryrae Lott Buckner & Tom, Daisy Pearl Lott Smoak & FD; brothers: Johnnie Paul Lott & Dean, Elisha Lott & Ruth, George Lott, Benjamin Lott & Sharon, Jerry Lott & Betty, Millard Lott, Grace McLean, Clara Mae Greene & Jerry, Melton Young & Doris and Wilbert Smith.
