Obituary

John C. Martini of Woburn passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 23rd. He was 93. A lifelong Woburn resident, retired Woburn businessman and owner of Martini Insurance Agency, Inc.

As a local businessman, John established Martini Insurance Agency Inc. in 1960 and insured the residents of Woburn and surrounding communities for 55 years. He was recognized by the Woburn Business Association as "Businessman of the Year" and as "Philanthropist of the Year" by the Winchester Hospital. He also served on the Board of the Directors for the Northern Bank and Trust and at the Winchester Hospital. In October 2022, John was the recipient of the prestigious Bishop Cheverus Award. This award is given to lay people who have served the parish well over an extended period of time and have done so in a quiet, unassuming and, perhaps, unrecognized fashion.

John was also devoted to the City of Woburn. He not only donated his time but he was also very generous to many youth organizations of Woburn. He coached Woburn Little League, sponsored several teams for Woburn Little League, Woburn Pop Warner and Woburn Youth Hockey. He was also the first President of the Woburn Lions Breakfast Club. He also donated scoreboards to the John Ferullo Field of North Woburn and to the Carl Torrice Memorial High School Gymnasium in 2006. He was devoted to St Anthony's Parish in North Woburn where he was an altar boy, an usher, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the parish council and served on the alter at funerals.

John was an athlete and played baseball at Woburn High, where in 1947 he was the recipient of the John Ferullo MVP award. It was while playing baseball that he met the love of his life, Annemarie Marlowe. They were married in 1948 and recently celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary. Together they had 6 children, Annemarie Collins, Michael Martini, Marion Martini-Park, John C. Martini, Jr, Julie Martini-Caldwell and Kathy DeLuca. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching his children play sports and always made time to go to all their games. He loved spending time with his family, especially the summers in Yarmouth MA where they had many fun days at Seagull Beach. He and his wife Annemarie (Nancy) enjoyed traveling through the years to London, Bermuda, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. They also enjoyed their winters at Clearwater, Florida.

John is survived by his wife Anne Marie (Nancy), his children Anne Marie Martini-Collins, Michael Martini, Marion and Jonathan Park, the late John C. Martini, Jr., Julie and Gary Caldwell, and Kathy and Rob DeLuca, Jr. his grandchildren Jennifer Collins, Deanna Martini, Ricky and Rose Martini, Michael Caldwell, Jaclyn Tramonte and Robbie DeLuca III and his great-grandchildren Reagan, Rhett and Ryder Martini
