Jane E. (Marchacos) Bergin, age 73, passed away on February 21, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 9, 1950 in Holyoke, daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Palivas) Marchacos. Jane worked as the Title 1 Coordinator for the Chicopee Public Schools for many years before she retired. Jane had a special place in her heart for softball and enjoyed coaching her team Pete's Dragons for many years. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter. She was known as Yia Yia to many people, especially within the Carol's Dance Studio dance family. She is predeceased by her husband Peter Bergin who passed away in 1982 and also by her brother Alexander Marchacos. She is survived by her daughter Tammie Sypek and her husband Jeremie of Chicopee and her granddaughter Haylie Sypek and her boyfriend Michael Cray. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Funeral will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service in St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Chicopee.
