Ann Marie Heos of West Roxbury, passed away on February 15, 2024. Beloved daughter of the late George N. Heos, Sr. and Mary N. (Kapetanakis). Dear sister of the late George N. Heos, Jr. Devoted sister-in-law of Harriet (Panoulos) Heos of Roslindale. Loving aunt of Alexis Leahy and her husband Bill of Lynnfield, and Christopher Heos and his wife Alarie of Roslindale. Great aunt to Vanessa and Samantha Leahy.
A graduate of Boston Latin School and Boston University, Ann Marie's passion for science and chemistry was evident in her studies and career. A chemist at a time when females in science were few and far between, she made significant contributions to the field in her work at MIT. Beyond her professional achievements, Ann Marie had a love for exploration and adventure. Her curiosity and thirst for knowledge fueled both her scientific pursuits and her love of travel. Since her retirement, Ann Marie applied her time to maintaining a beautiful garden and ensuring her great-nieces had any shirt that encouraged females in science. Ann Marie will be deeply missed by her colleagues, friends, and family.
Visitation in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 514 Parker Street, Boston on Saturday, February 24th from 10:00am to 11:00am. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge.
