Obituary

Carl V. Bruno, age 85, of Woburn, formerly of Winchester, passed away on February 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Bernadette "Bunny" Bruno for 54 years.

Raised and educated in Winchester, and a graduate of Winchester High School, Carl proudly worked as a letter carrier in Winchester for over 30 years. He was very well known in both Woburn and Winchester and couldn't go anywhere without bumping into an old friend or a familiar face. Carl was always very active in his faith: he was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus and attended the retreats at Campion Renewal Center for 50 years. In more recent years, Carl enjoyed volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Patrick's Parish in Stoneham, where he helped deliver food to the needy. He enjoyed attending daily Mass and was a familiar face at both St. Patrick's and St. Mary's Parishes.

Carl loved to be outside and took pride in tending to his lawn and plantings, especially his roses, hydrangeas, impatiens, and tomatoes. He enjoyed taking his daily walk to Horn Pond and greeting people with a smile along the way.

In addition to his wife, Bernadette, Carl is survived by his four loving daughters: Julie Bruno, Carla Bruno, Lisa Franz and her husband Karl, and Jennifer Wiley and her husband Dan. Carl was also the dear brother of Frances "Dolly" Maloney and her husband James, and the late Robert Bruno, and leaves behind a large extended family.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester, on Saturday, February 17, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory may be made to St. Patrick's Parish, 71 Central St., Stoneham, MA 02180 https://www.stpatrickstoneham.org honoring his dedication to the St. Vincent de Paul Society within the Parish's ministry.
