Obituary

WEBSTER – Rose M. (Antos) Scheffler, 97, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 10, 2024 while under the compassionate care of the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton. Her husband of 48 years, Francis J. Scheffler, died in 1998.

She leaves a son, Michael F. Scheffler and his wife Janice of Sturbridge; a daughter Kathy R. Brezenski and her husband Robert of Dudley; 4 grandchildren, Laura Burnor and her partner Josh Baldwin; Cole Scheffler and his partner Krysti Lawrence, all of Sturbridge; Kristin Jablonski and her husband Jason, and Justin Brezenski and his partner Dayna Brothers, all of Dudley; 8 great-grandchildren, Adlee Burnor, Skydin, Kade, Asa, Hunter and Maverick Scheffler, Josephine and Abigale Jablonski; a sister, Stella Roukat of Dudley, and many nieces and nephews.

She was born on July 13, 1926 on the family farm in Dudley, one of ten children of John and Josephine (Pendrak) Antos. She attended the town’s one room schoolhouse for 8 years and then graduated from Bartlett High School in 1943. She moved to Webster in 1951.

Mrs. Scheffler was a waitress for most of her life at different restaurants including Al & Ray’s Diner in Webster, Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, The New Yorker in Auburn, The White House in Worcester and Lake Pizza in Webster before retiring in 1998. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and crafter. Rose also spent much time at her son’s business, Breakneck Ridge Tree Farm, helping with the planting, care and sale of Christmas trees and wreaths. Her life centered on her family.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster.
