Obituary

GILFORD ---- Timothy D. Sullivan IV, 71, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Concord Hospital in Laconia.

Timothy was born August 7, 1952, in Milton, MA, the son of Timothy and Lilian (Moses) Sullivan.

Tim grew up in Wayne, NJ where he attended Wayne Hills High School and was a member of the Football team. Tim went on to study engineering at Calhoon MEBA Engineering School in Maryland. In the latter years of Tim’s life, he moved to Wolfeboro, NH and then landed in Gilford, NH, where he enjoyed going to the town beach with his family and friends. Tim could be seen on a summer day with his cooler and umbrella just hanging out. Tim loved Karen, and their love for music had them attending hundreds of concerts over their lifetimes.

He sailed as an engineering officer aboard large ships in the Merchant Marines supporting international commerce as well as carrying critical supplies to the US military troops on the ground in the Middle East during the Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom conflicts. Tim retired from his seagoing career after 30 plus years. Tim enjoyed many hobbies including skiing, travelling, reading, camping, sailing on Winnipesaukee, gardening, collecting stamps, cooking and watching sports.

Tim was a fighter and survivor, through and through as he beat multiple cancers in his lifetime and always had a will to live and be with the people he loved.

After retiring from the Merchant Marines, Tim was elected to and served on the town of Gilford Budget Committee. He became active in New Hampshire and local Lakes Region politics.

Timothy is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Sullivan and her husband Joe Mahra, his brother John W. Sullivan of San Francisco, CA, his brother-in-law Mark J. Appleton, his niece Sarah Appleton of Arvada, CO and many cousins whom live in Weymouth and Braintree Massachusetts.
