Obituary

Helen L. “Louise” Curran – age 80, of Winchester, formerly of the West End of Boston, passed away on February 5, 2024.

Born in Boston, Louise was the daughter of the late Joseph T., Sr. and Helen B. (Similewich) Curran. She was raised in the West End of Boston and attended St. Joseph’s School. She also attended St. Mary’s School when they moved to Winchester, graduated from Matignon High School and then attended Mass Bay Community College.

After school, Louise worked as a secretary in the corporate office of Dairy Queen, which moved her to Portland, Maine for several years. She also worked at the Law Offices of Latham and Latham before working as an executive secretary for various financial institutions in the Boston area.

Every year she would travel to England to visit her sister Kathy and family. In her spare time, she was a season-ticket holder and enjoyed regular attendance at the North Shore Music Theater, and for a time was a member of the Winchester Home and Garden Club. After retiring, she volunteered at the Stoneham Theater.

Louise was the dear sister of Joseph T. Curran, Jr. and his wife Marilyn P., of Chelmsford, Kathleen T. Clark and her late husband Robert of England, and Paul W. Curran of Winchester. She was the devoted “Auntie Weeze” of Keith Curran, Krysta Stuart, Robert Clark, Jennifer James and David Clark, and is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 9:30-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery Winchester.
