Kathleen Rita Bateman, of Saugus, formerly of Malden, January 30th. Beloved wife of William Bateman. Loving mother of Ryan Bateman of Saugus and Eric Bateman of Saugus. Dear sister of Michael O’Brien of Watertown, Maureen Perna of Saugus, Herbert O’Brien of Wakefield, the late Steven O’Brien, Kristine Goulette of Tewksbury, Joanne Meleshuk of Methuen, Mark O’Brien of Lynn, Ann Goulette of Wakefield, Mary Flaherty of North Reading and Diane Connelly of Malden. Beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (Gallant) O'Brien. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Kathy was raised and educated in Malden. She is a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1981. For many years she worked as an office manager. Kathy enjoyed being outdoors riding her bike, walking on the beach during sunrise and writing messages in the sand. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Kathy was an advocate for the elderly population in her hometown of Saugus, helping them in any way she could. Relatives & friend are invited to attend her Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday February 9th at 10 AM. Interment is private. Visiting hours will be held at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday February 8th from 4-8 PM.
