Obituary

WEBSTER – Thomas A. Thrun, 73, died unexpectedly Monday, January 29, 2024 at his home.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Joan T. (O’Brien) Thrun and their 10 children, Margaret Cyr and her husband Joseph of Webster, Elizabeth Thrun of Boston, Timothy Thrun and his wife Cara of Webster, Anna Bolton and her husband Gregory of Dover, NH, John Thrun and his wife Mary of Ave Maria, FL, Joseph and Luke Thrun, both of Webster, Martha Van Beck and her husband Bailey of Freeport, MN, Mary Thrun of Boston, Frederick Thrun of Webster; another son from a previous marriage, Todd Thrun and his wife Aimee of Elgin, IL; 20 grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Thrun of Kansas; 3 sisters, Barbara Angellotti of Henderson, NV, Debbie Clardy of Nocona, TX, and Cheryl Simonsen of Elgin, IL; nephews and nieces.

He was born on August 26, 1950 in Elgin, IL a son of Arnold and Edith (Nielsen) Thrun and was raised in South Elgin. He graduated from Larkin High School in Elgin in 1968 and earned an Associate Degree in Technical Drawing from Elgin Community College. He lived in Maynard, MA for 5 years before moving to Webster 40 years ago.

Mr. Thrun was an industrial cabinet salesman for Lab Furniture, Inc. in Middleton before retiring last year.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. His family was his hobby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
