Obituary

Carol A. (Cole) O’Neill, 83, of Tewksbury, MA died Sunday, January 21, 2024, surrounded by family.

She was married to Richard F. O’Neill, Jr., with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage in June.

Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Mary H. (Preston) Cole. She was raised in Chelmsford and Lowell, where she graduated from Keith Hall, Lowell, MA, with the class of 1958. She moved to Tewksbury with her husband in 1961, where she raised her family.

She enjoyed watching sports and loved her Boston teams – especially the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. She loved her winter snowbird trips to the south to Florida and then to Myrtle Beach in more recent years. She was also able to fulfill a dream of traveling to Ireland this past October with her husband and her daughters Kathy and Cheryl.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kathleen and her husband Walter Hughes of Haverhill, MA, Cheryl O’Neill of Nashua, NH, Colleen Stephens of Salem, NH; and her son Michael and his wife Shannon O’Neill of Pelham, NH; her brother, Robert Cole of Nashua, NH; sisters-in-law, Barbara Stack of Lowell, MA, Patricia Stotik of Tewksbury, MA, Sharon and her husband Stephen Zaremba of Tewksbury; and her brothers-in-law John and his wife Teresa O’Neill of Stratham, NH, William Johnson of Tewksbury, MA; her nephew Leland and his wife Nastassja Hunter of Goffstown, NH; and her niece Nicki and her husband Karl Engelhart of Nashua, NH; as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a great-niece.

She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Johnson and her granddaughter Stephanie McLaughlin.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 31st, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. A memorial remembrance service will be held on Thursday, February 1st, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Center at dana-farber.org
