Anita F. Uva, 85

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Anita F. Uva, age 85, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her adoring family on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Ralph S. Uva, Sr., to whom she was wed for fifty-nine years at the time of his death on December 7, 2019.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 20, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis and Florence (Gregoire) Poirier.

Anita grew up in Providence and Newport and for the past sixty-four years had made her home in Mansfield. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had previously been employed at Acorn Manufacturing in Mansfield and the former Fairfield Optical Co., also in Mansfield.

Anita loved spending time with family and friends and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She enjoyed sharing her talent for crocheting and knitting with others, by teaching her skills in the Mansfield Adult Education Program. Anita was also an avid cribbage player and enjoyed the simple pleasures of day trips, with her late husband Ralph, Cape Cod being their favorite place of destination.


She is survived by her devoted children: Marie F. Bacchiocchi and her husband David of Attleboro, Ralph S. Uva, Jr. of Attleboro, Susan A. MacDonald of Mansfield and her late husband Thomas MacDonald and Joann M. May and her husband Scott of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother: Stephanie Hurley, Heather Bacchiocchi, Jillian Turner and her husband John, Kevin Bacchiocchi and his wife Kelby and great grandmother of Emma, Bailey and Jocelyn. She was the dear sister of Donald Poirier and his wife of Coventry, Rhode Island and the late Loretta Beck. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

Services, along with burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield will be held privately at the convenience of her family.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Anita with a donation in her memory made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
