Obituary

EIS, Reverend Charles R. of San Diego, CA, formerly of Dedham, sadly passed away on November 27, 2023. He was the son of the late Harold and Rita Eis of Dedham. He is survived by his sisters Judith Soalri and her husband Donald of Attleboro and Marilyn Loeber of Dedham, his nephew Donald Solari Jr., his nieces Susan Martini, Lori Graveline and Donna Bolton all of Attleboro, and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Charles was ordained into the priesthood in 1966 by the Sulpician Seminary of the Northwest, Seattle, WA. He served with the U.S. Navy for 24 years as a Naval Chaplain. During his service he received the Naval Commendation Medal, Humanitarian Medal, Fleet Marine Force Ribbon, and so many more.

After his retirement from the service he worked in San Diego where he celebrated Masses at Sacred Heart, Ocean Beach, CA.

He was a tireless advocate for the poor, needy, sick, and the homeless veterans.

He was truly a man of God and will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Monday, Dec. 4 from 9:00-10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
