Gene S. Johnston of Dedham, 82, passed away on November 9, 2023. Former husband of Donna (Sebio) Johnston of Dedham. Devoted father of Meryl Johnston of Fall River, Gene Johnston and his wife Sheila of Roslindale, and Dean Johnston and his wife Denise Collins of Milton. Dear brother of Daniel Johnston of Norwood and the late James Johnston. Loving grandfather of Fiona, Patrick, and Mae. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gene was a very talented musician. He played drums, guitar, piano, and sang. He traveled the world playing music until he settled back down in his hometown. Those that knew him knew that he was quite a gifted storyteller. He loved playing tennis with his children and in his later years fell in love with horticulture and being an arborist.
He was the owner and operator of Johnston Landscaping Co. for almost 50 years and was a member of the Hyde Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury, on Friday, November 17th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
