Obituary

Mary S. Iannuzzo, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of George Iannuzzo, his passing in March of 2021 truly broke her heart and was something she never recovered from.

Mary was born on September 14, 1945 in Waltham, she was a daughter of the late Paul Bongiorno and the late Annunciata (Viscogliosi) Bongiorno.She was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1963. She continued her education at Fisher College in Boston, graduating in 1965 with an Associates degree in secretarial arts.

Mary worked as an administrative assistant for over 24 years at VW in Wilmington. She never truly retired and also worked at Merck for several years before working as a chaplains assistant at Lowell General Hospital. She was a dedicated pillar of her community. Her involvement with the Lions Club in Tewksbury, Sons of Italy in Tewksbury and Together We Thrive group at Lowell General Hospital exemplified her commitment to service and camaraderie.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her late husband, George, dining out, playing Bocce, and taking trips to Las Vegas and Nubble Light House, where they enjoyed quality peaceful time together.

She leaves behind two step daughters: Valerie Lowell and her husband, Bruce, of Lowell, and Rose Iannuzzo of Tewksbury, her four grandchildren, Chiara Lowell of Fitchburg and Jenna Lowell of Lowell, Dominic Iannuzzo of Allentown, NH, and Gianna Iannuzzo of Nashua, NH, and her great-grandson, Dominic Iannuzzo, Jr., of Nashua, NH.

She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Lorraine Pomponio, Edie Albano, and Mary Lou Bowry, and her life long best friend, Yolanda Girouard.

Her family grand dogs Mickey and Teddy, will also miss her dearly.

On Friday, August 18, 2023 all are welcome to attend her visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA 978-851-2061. Her funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home at 7 p.m..
