NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT – Walenty “Staszek” Ucher, 71, died Friday, March 24 at home surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Emilia (Ceremon) Ucher; 2 sons, Pawel Ucher and his wife Anna of Woodstock, and Robert Ucher and his wife Dorota of Thompson; 1 daughter, Teresa Croteau and her husband Nikolas of North Grosvenordale; 3 brothers, Kazimierz Ucher and his wife Stanislawa of Dudley, MA, Jan Ucher and his wife Maria of Webster, MA and Wladyslaw Ucher and his wife Cecilia of Webster, MA; 3 sisters, Stanislawa Rabska of Webster, MA , Anna Frankowska of Georgia and Wladyslawa Gustab and her husband Henryk of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jozef Ucher and Hieronim Ucher.
He was born in Skomielna Biala, Poland on April 2, 1951 a son of Walenty and Anna (Lopata) Ucher and emigrated to the United States in 1989.
Mr. Ucher was a skilled wood carver in his native Poland and was employed in America at Webster Spring in Oxford, Anglo Fabrics in Webster and finally Nichols College in Dudley, MA before retiring in 2010.
He was a parishioner of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley. He enjoyed working with his hands, carving wood and gardening.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street, Dudley, MA (please meet at church). Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
