Ruth Y. Weeks, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday, September 22, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Don Woeltjen officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.
Mrs. Weeks was born September 10, 1940, in Osierfield, Georgia, to the late Sam & Elizabeth Troup Young. She was a 1958 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for Weeks Auto Service. Mrs. Weeks loved flowers and spent many hours working in her yard. She will also be remembered as a great cook. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joel E. Weeks of Fitzgerald; daughter, Cheryl & Mike James of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Peyton Golden, Kelsea & Andrew Fender, and Garret James; step-children: Jeri & Joey Daniel of Jackson and Glen & Julie Weeks of Sparks, Nevada; step-grandchildren: Niki Funck, Joe Funck, Reid Weeks, and Brennan Weeks; step-great-grandchildren: Breydan Funck, Riley Gainey, and Colton Funck; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Mixon; two brothers: Eston Young and Ezra Young; and two sisters: Velma Watson and Thelma Moore.
