Obituary

Philip F. Dion of Plymouth, Massachusetts formerly of West Roxbury and Humarock. Passed away peacefully October 18th at the age of 90.
Born in 1929 to the late Henri and Ethel Dion. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen(Yarosh) and the loving father of Philip F. Jr and his wife Deborah, Andrea L. Smythe and her husband Richard, and Christine M. Spillers. He was tragically predeceased by his son Howard D. Still the loving father-in-law of Rebecca Dion and Edward Spillers. He was the devoted grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred J. and Henry P. and sisters Anne D and Elizabeth A.
He joined the USMC at the age of 17 serving at the end of WWII in the Mediterranean. In 1951 he joined the Boston Police Department where he served with honor for 33 years. During his many years on the Police Department he road patrol car, police motorcycle and when he retired he was a member of the Boston Police Department’s Mounted Unit. In addition, he spent from 1976-1980 as a member United States Coast Guard Reserve. He was also a member of the Boston Police Honor Guard and served as Post Commander of the VFW, B.P.
Post 1018. After retiring he enjoyed golfing, tinkering and spending time with his family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a one hour visitation on Thursday October 24, 2019 from 10:00am-11:00am in the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St., Jamaica Plain 02130 (Opposite Forest Hills MBTA Station). Followed by a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 11:00am. Interment immediately following at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
