Onita "Nita" J. Jackson , 86, passed away October 18, 2019 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. S. Louis Jackson, 82, her husband of 60 years, preceded her in death on October 17, 2019 also at Community Hospital. Nita and Louis were dearly committed to each other and to their faith in God.

Nita was born on September 3, 1933 in Benton Harbor, MI, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Graber) Flagel. She was devoted to caring for her children and household and enjoyed hosting parties. She taught yoga, enjoyed oil painting, gardening, and feeding and watching the birds in her yard.
She is survived by 2 children, Laura Irvin and Brad (Amy) Jackson; a brother Ronald (Eleanor) Flagel and a sister- in- law, Laverne Flagel as well as several nieces and nephews. Nita was preceded by a daughter, Lynette and 4 brothers and a sister.

Louis was born on January 1, 1937 in Pennecose County, Missouri, the son of James Riley Jackson and Lois Evelyn (Mathenia) Jackson Porter. Louis worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for many years. Following that he owned and operated several family businesses. Later he went on to developing and refurbishing assisted living facilities, which was his passion in later years. He deeply enjoyed yearly vacations with his family. He was very proud of his home and took great pride in keeping it and the grounds looking their best. In addition to his children, Louis is survived by siblings. Judy Stewart, Jerry (Norma) Jackson and Marty (Andy) Petersen and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister.

A double funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11 AM at East Side Church of God with Dr. Kerry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM - 11 AM Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Madison County Humane Society or the Christian Center in memory of Nita and Louis.
