Obituary

Paul Joseph Dube passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the age of 83.

Paul was born to Napolean (Paul) and Lillian Dube on September 16, 1936 in Providence, RI. As an only child, he grew up surrounded by cousins and friends. He attended high school at Mount Pleasant, playing football and hockey, and truly loved spending summers at Roy Carpenter’s Beach in Matunuck.

Paul joined the U.S. Army in 1956, and went on reserve status in 1960 for nursing school. He went on to graduate from the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 and went back to active status until he retired as a Major in December 1975. He served all over the country and the world as an operating room nurse, including a year in Vietnam. He then received a Bachelor’s of Science from Drury University, Springfield, MO in 1978. While serving in Germany he learned his lifelong passion for downhill skiing, that he carried through as a junior ski team volunteer at Mammoth Mtn., and an adaptive skiing volunteer at Waterville Valley, NH. Coaching football was another love, in Germany, Los Alamitos and Mammoth Lakes, CA and Coventry, RI.

Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his four children; Paula Daigneau, Michael Dube, Thomas Dube and Nicole Vanderslice. His heart was overflowing with seven grandchildren; Jennifer Grace, Jaimie Kraska, Nathan Dube, Jhode Dube, Lauren Vanderslice, John Vanderslice and Dorrie Dube. His five great grandchildren; Hunter, Cole and Hazel Grace and Chloe and Noah French, were all showered with Pop’s love. He was blessed to enjoy over 20 years of love with his partner Sandra Brault and her children Kevin and Kristin Brault.

Paul asked that his heart and smile be remembered with a celebration of life at his favorite place, Roy Carpenters Beach, with lots of friends, food and rock and roll. His family will spread the word of the date and time for next summer.
