Obituary

Mark E. McCleary, 51 of Abington, MA died on August 26th 2019 in the home of his sister Pauline after a valiant fight against Cancer. Mark waged a war like no other and his family could not prouder of his fight.

Mark was born in Norwood, MA on July 26th 1968. Mark attended Rockland High School and was last employed as a machinist at New England Art. Mark is survived by his father Richard A. McCleary, his brother Christopher McCleary and his wife Cindy of Archer, FL; his sister Pauline Matlack and her husband Robert of Whitman, MA; his brother Bryce McCleary of Carver, MA; his brother Sean McCleary and his wife Andrea of Carver; and his sister Brandy-Lyn Clarke and her husband Jeremy Clarke of The Dalles, Oregon. Mark was predeceased by his mother Lynn Cheryl (Hart) McCleary. Mark is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his grand-niece and his very special canine friend, Mack.

Mark was a fan of music his entire life especially heavy metal. He loved playing the guitar and was a student of music his entire life. Mark especially loved going out to see local area bands and enjoyed reconnecting with old friends when he did. Mark loved his friends and family, time spent with them was one of his absolute favorite way to pass the day. He also enjoyed playing darts, gathering around the fire or BBQ and camping. Mark adored pets and oftentimes would be found at family and friends homes hanging out with the animals. He was most proud of his incredibly huge and diverse skull collection. Mark was rarely seen without at least one garment of clothing representing this lifelong love of skulls.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you and a huge amount of love and respect to Pauline and her husband Robert Matlack who were completely devoted to Mark’s Hospice care and made his last days peaceful and pain free.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday August 31 from 4:00- 5:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by celebration of his life at 5:00PM.
