Obituary



Ferdinand A. Lucontoni, of Stratham, NH, formerly of Woburn, passed away Friday, August 23rd. He was 97. Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late Bernard and Josephine Lucontoni.

Ferdinand was inducted into the United States Army in the winter of 1943 from Boston, serving during WWII. He was involved in many historical battles including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. He was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon as well as the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon before being honorably discharged in the winter of 1946.

Ferdinand loved to spend time in his garden planting flowers, with a natural green thumb his garden was constantly blooming. When he was not spending time in his garden, he enjoyed playing a round of golf, spending time with his family at the lake house, playing cards, or strolling through the woods gathering mushrooms, and most of all making you eat his world-famous mystery pot of giambotta. Ferdinand was a dedicated husband, a great father, the best Papa, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed.

Ferdinand was the beloved husband of the late Carmela (Maffeo) Lucontoni. He was the devoted father of Michael Lucontoni and his wife Susan, of Concord, Linda Comeau and her husband Jeffrey, of Stratham, NH, and the late Frederick Lucontoni. He was the loving Papa of Michael, Daniel, Jeffrey, Victoria and Sophia.

A funeral service will be conducted at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn on Friday, August 30th at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 4 through 8 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ferdinand’s name to New England Hospice, 190 Old Derby St., Suite 304, Hingham, MA, 02043. Late WWII Army, Veteran.
