Obituary


Paul Alan Crowley, Sr., 79, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on July 20, 2019 in Port Charlotte, Florida from complications following a series of vascular surgeries.

Grandpa/Papa Crowley was born in Medford, Massachusetts on January 17, 1940 to Francis M. Crowley Sr. and Anna (McCarthy Crowley) Ganley. After graduating from Medford High School in 1958, he enlisted in the Navy and served for four years as an electrician on the USS Macon and the USS Providence. Paul traveled the world serving our country and solving engineering problems. After his service, Paul worked for the phone company and flipped houses on the side before it was all the rage. He married Carol on July 1, 1984 in Wakefield Massachusetts. In 1990, Paul retired from New England Telephone and Verizon after 30 years of service and enjoyed his first few years of retirement on Sandy Beach in Barnstable, Cape Cod. He was an avid fisherman and after moving to Florida enjoyed years of angling on the Gulf. He enjoyed reading the paper and completing the daily Sudoku and puzzles. He was a proud, kind and a wonderful person.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Anna, and his brother Michael Crowley. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Roche Crowley, his first wife Maureen (Tierney) Crowley and their five children Paul Jr. and his wife Kim, William and his wife Lynne, Lawrence and his wife Kim, Mariann Puopolo and her husband David, and Kathleen Parker and her husband Wesley. He is also survived by his stepchildren Paula Roche Jacobson and her husband Alan, and Sean Roche and his wife Annemarie, and his sisters Sister Mary Ann Crowley CSJ and Elizabeth Wright and her husband George and sister in law Carol Crowley. He had twenty beautiful grandchildren, one beautiful great-grandchild and six nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, September 14th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. It has been requested that contributions may be made in Paul's memory to Save the Manatee Club, www.savethemanatee.org. The family of Paul Crowley wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte for their compassionate care during Paul's final days.
