Leonard Francis McCarrick of Medford died on Monday, July 29, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Doherty) McCarrick. Leonard proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, after which he worked as an electrician for Raytheon. Leonard was an incredible athlete, playing several sports while in the military as well as afterward in civilian life. Most recently his passion has been golf.
Leonard was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Bowler) McCarrick of Medford, and the devoted father of Deborah Looby and her husband William of Woburn, and Leonard F. McCarrick Jr. of New Mexico. He was the loving grandfather of Christopher Looby and his wife Caitlin, and Erin Looby, and the loving great grandfather of Mackenzie and Owen. Leonard was the dear brother of Thomas McCarrick of Roslindale and his late wife Ann, Donald McCarrick and his wife Barbara of Florida, and the late Eileen Mills and Rita McCarrick. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St, Medford, at 11 AM on Friday, August 2. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 9 through 10:30 AM prior to the service.
