Obituary

Ruth F. (Mason) Dean died peacefully on June 22nd at Norwood Hospital with family by her side. She had just started her 99th year, but her health has been steadily declining over the last five years. She was still living on her own, an original resident of Liberty Pines in Wrentham.

She was born and raised in Franklin the daughter of Fred & Minta (Gowen) Mason. She married Edgar Y. Dean in 1945 and was widowed in 1972. She was the sister of Charles E. Mason who died in 1941 while in NJ training for WWII. She was the sister-in-law of Robert I. Dean (died 1985) and Emilia K. Dean (died 2016).

She leaves her nephews Robert R. & Kenneth I Dean, niece Janet D. Bederian (Larry) of Franklin, niece Barbara R. Dean of Watertown, and niece Marcia D McAuley (John) of Stoughton along with grand & great grand nieces and nephews.

She never remarried, but she had numerous families that claimed her as their own aunt/mother/sister. She was very close to the McGuire boys and their wives, the Brett families, Gretchen & Liam Houlihan, and dearest friend, George McDonald.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School class of 1939. She continued her studies at Chandler Secretarial School. As a young woman, she worked for a Boston attorney, and later for Harry Webb of Franklin. After the death of her husband she obtained her realtor’s license, and she opened and operated Heritage House Real Estate Agency.” She also worked for Andrew Bissanti Realty, and Bruce E. Johnston Real Estate Co.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private family graveside service will be held prior to interment at Union St. cemetery.
