Obituary

WESTFIELD ~ Stefan Sacuta, 86, of Westfield, was called home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He was born in Krytyszyn, Poland (presently Belarus) on January 17, 1933, a beloved son of the late Jozef and Fedora Sacuta. He immigrated to Springfield in 1962 and lived there for many years prior to moving to Westfield in 1991. A hardworking man, he worked as a machinist and was the owner and President of the former Atlantic Valve Manufacturing Company in Westfield. Stefan was a happy and generous man who was always kind and respectful of everyone. During his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to music, singing, playing his accordion and vacationing at the beaches of Connecticut. Holidays and gatherings were always held in Stefan’s beautiful home where he warmly welcomed and entertained family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving brother and best friend, Michael J. Sacuta who was called home on July 10, 2017; and his two loving sisters, Galina Tabala and Sofia Smolina. He leaves his beloved sister-in-law, Jadwiga Sacuta of Springfield; his many dear nephews and nieces including Anna M. Collins and her husband, Thomas, of West Springfield, Julia S. Raymond and her husband, Stephen, of Topsfield, MA, Peter K. Sacuta and Melissa G. Bogner, of Chicopee and Paul M. Sacuta of West Palm Beach, FL; his cherished grandnieces and grandnephews, Natalie, Nadia, Nicole, Lucien, Alexander and Marina; his dear companion, Carol Bracci; and his many dear friends and extended members of the Sacuta family. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.). His Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. In memory of Stefan’s late dog Sasha, his family requests that donations be made to the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, Westfield, MA 01085.
